Matisse Inspired Klimt

Two of my wife’s all time favorite portraits.- TR

In 1910 Klimt visited Paris and was influenced by Henri Matisse, among other contemporary French painters. His late portraits of women possess a French-inspired, colorful palette and lively brushwork. The overall background patterns and clothing of the sitters are often similar enough that they appear integrated. He became interested in Chinese and Japanese fabrics and costumes.
